3.3. Dismantle and major maintenance of the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

In this subsection the order of performance of such works as dismantle of the power unit from the car and major maintenance of details of the internal device of considered engines is in detail considered. The part of procedures of removal and installation of units and details of the engine is described above, at engine removal their performance considerably becomes simpler.

Major maintenance of the engine

The main objective indicators of the general condition of the engine, indicating
on need of major maintenance with complete dismantling, results of measurements of pressure of oil, a compression and extent of the depression created on a soaking-up collector are. Pressure of oil gives idea of wear of details of the engine. Turn out the sensor of pressure of oil and screw instead of it the confided manometer, having provided tightness of consolidation. Measure pressure of oil idling and on the turns specified in subsection 3.3.1, compare the measured values to the standard.

At performance of major maintenance it is recommended to check, repair or replace the generator, a starter and the ignition distributor. The preliminary amount of works and expenses on engine restoration (to repair of a head, the block of cylinders, krivoshipno-shatunny and klapanny mechanisms) is determined by its condition at the moment of removal and dismantling. The condition of the block of cylinders which in some cases it is expedient to replace is defining.

At assembly of the repaired engine without fail are replaced
all laying and a sealant, the pump of cooling liquid, the oil pump, and also all belts.
